Pittsburg Power Company, a Joint Powers
Authority between the City of Pittsburg and
the Redevelopment Agency, has been doing
business on Mare Island under the name of
Island Energy.
Pittsburg Power Company is committed to
providing high quality utility services at
competitive prices to its customers. In
addition to Island Energy, Pittsburg Power
Company has been actively working with private industry to develop power plants
and transmission lines.
Pittsburg Power Company’s last venture was working with Trans Bay Cable LLC for
the construction and operation of an approximately 53-mile High Voltage Direct
Current (HVDC) transmission line from the City of Pittsburg to the City of San
Francisco, called the Trans Bay Cable Project. Pittsburg Power Company played a
vital role in securing the permits, the environmental process, and conducting a
community relations outreach program in the city of Pittsburg. Pictures of the cable
